Cathode by Davide Groppi is a poetic reinterpretation of the traditional light bulb. Crafted from mouth-blown glass, its scientific aesthetic evokes the early experiments of electricity and the mechanical imagination of the steampunk era.
Its silhouette recalls a light bulb that was never fully realized — a suspended idea between past and future. Instead of filament technology, Cathode embraces luminous diodes, transforming a nostalgic form into a contemporary lighting device.
This interplay between memory and innovation creates a unique decorative object that is both ironic and refined. The lamp challenges the viewer to imagine an alternate history: what if the future had arrived before the past was completed?
Available also in the ENDLESS version, Cathode embodies Davide Groppi’s experimental and conceptual approach to light design.
